Radio Control Trucks – Gaydon 2008

User Imageadmin · 10 Comments

This goes to show that gas RC trucks are not all about 4X4’s ripping through the dirt & tearing up turf.  Many people have & show trucks, which require precise maneuverability skills.

Chris shot this video of a truck model show he also exhibited.  I also like the detail that goes into many of the trucks, and even a few tanks.  The models look very life like, and you can tell many hours went into creating these awesome trucks.

Here’s what Chris said about his video at youtube…

Filmed at the 2008 Classic and Vintage Commercial Show at Gaydon Heritage Motor Centre on 08 June 2008. The CVCS also features the UK’s biggest truck model show, at which I exhibited.

A pick of some of the best radio control models featured at the show (including my blue & white Scania with the other half driving…)

    Sitting comfortably …
Sitting comfortably? The basic truck is £200, radio gear £150, speed controller £25. Trailers start at £120 up to £300, sound & light kit is £200. Of course if you then want to customise or convert it it’s a lot more. Some of the models on show are worth over £1000.

    Very fast if you …
Very fast if you have the right motor – probably about 40mph, although not measured! Most are fitted with slower but more powerful motors. The 2:12 truck is a Tamiya Scania cab fitted on a longer chassis (US truck) with an extra steering axle machined on. The cooling tower behind the cab is scratchbuilt.
